A Case of N.asteroides Infection

Abstract

|
Nocardia species are causes of a localized or disseminated infection through the repiratory tract, or breaks in the skin.
In nocardiosis, over 90% of cases are caused by N. asteroides. Nocardiosis presents highly variable clinical manifestations, and are likely to misdiagnosed as more familiar illness, especially neoplasms and granulomatous diseases, therefore it is
important to suspect this disease.
Diagnosis may require an aggressive approach as modifie acid fast stin, culture and identification of physiological properties, because its infections can be serve, but with early diagnosis teratment is often successful
We experienced one case of nocardiosis in Chung-Ang University Hospital, which showed a mild clinical course. So th authors report this cases with literature review.
